Movie Review...

The_mist_movie_poster_onesheet_2I watched The Mist a couple of nights ago, and I have to say it is one of the best horror/Sci-fi movies I have ever seen. It’s not that it was scary or anything, but you just never knew what was gonna happen next. It was like watching Gary Busey(crazy old actor-guy). It was completely different from what I expected (the movie, not Gary). I thought it was gonna be lame like The Fog, but never really explain anything since it’s a Stephen King movie. However, the movie really wasn’t focused on the supernatural stuff that happened, but rather, how different people cope with something so horriffic. Some went into denial, some curled up in the fetal position, and some sought religion. It was a very realistic movie in that aspect. It's pretty interesting how someone who is completely 100% against, God will cling to him when "the fertilizer hits the fan." I think that's just the way we are wired, no matter how we feel, deep down, we know we need Christ. He is the only thing we can count on when all else fails. Anyways, the only thing I hated about the movie was the ending, but I won’r ruin it for you, Go rent it.

First Blog. Woo-Hoo!

Thanks to my good friend Josh Brickey, aka, the "synth-master", I am now officially a part of the blogging community. Where to begin? How bout with a movie review...

Last night I watched "Lars and The Real Girl", a movie about a man, and a sex doll. Now I know what you are thinking, but trust me, it's a lot less kinky than it sounds. The story is about an extremely emotionally detached man named, you guessed it, Lars. Now, as if being named Lars wasn't bad enough, he is also suffering from a mental illness. His mental illness is a delusion that a life-size, anatomically correct, doll, named Bianca, is in fact a real person, and.....his girlfriend. Now I don't want to give you so much info that you decide you don't need to see this movie because it is amazing, but this idea does lay the ground work for my random thought of the day.

We live in a world where a new disorder or mental illness is created everyday, and within a week, there is pharmaceutical drug to treat said illness. What do you think would happen if instead of immediately labeling someone crazy and pumping them full of drugs, because they are different from the norm, we put everything we could into finding out why their brain must interpret things differently? People don't just go insane. The brain is very complex and has very interesting ways of dealing with trauma. Who are we to say someone's crazy, crazy is a stupid term, it's dismissive, and misleading, and should only be applied when speaking of Tom Cruise. Just kidding, there is even an explanation for his antics.......... which will be one the first questions I ask God in heaven, "Why did Tom Cruise bounce around like a bunny rabbit on Oprah?"
