Buy This CD!

When I first looked at Steve Fee's new Band "Fee", I thought the cd was the same as the one he released solo. I was wrong. Although a lot of the songs are the same, there are a few new ones, such as: a version of "Happy Day", by Tim Hughes and a song we're doing sunday called "Lift High". It's amazing! It's one of those songs that pretty much sums up the entire message of the Gospel in 30 or so words with a wicked sweet melody. You should buy it, definitely worth it. Now I'm off to watch "The Astronaut Farmer". Later.

Can't sleep...

Before I began my scholarly pursuits at NGU, my sleep schedule was:

12pm-wake up
12:45pm-get out of bed
1:00pm-play guitar while eating a sandwich and watching Law and Order
2-4:00pm-still watching Law and order
4-5:00-read random pop culture gossip online so me and Brian can discuss
5-7:00pm-watch a movie/eat dinner
7-10:00pm play guitar really loud in my music room
10-12:00am-recover from tendonitis (ringing of the ears)
12-3:00am-watch whatever random 80s movie that is on TBS at 3am
3-3:10am-make it through the first ten minutes of some feel good family movie
3:10am-12pm-wake up

Here is what NGU did to that perfectly crafted schedule:

7:00am-wake up because my roomate has an alarm set for 7am so he can take his medicine
8:00am-get cleaned up
8:45am-check email to see if teacher cancelled class
9am-4:00pm-classes
4-5:00pm-hang out with amazing college peeps
5-6:00pm-go get dinner, usually TacoBell
6-8:00pm-do homework
8-9:00pm-read random pop culture gossip online so me and Brian can discuss
9-11:00pm-watch funny movie and fall asleep
3:00am-wake up to the sound my nerdy suitemates having a lightsaber battle while saying things like "You will never defeat me! I was the top apprentice at the Jedi Academy."
3-6:59am-sleep

So now I am up, writing a blog, because I no longer have ability to sleep passed 8am....Thanks NGU (sarcasm)

First Blog. Woo-Hoo!

Thanks to my good friend Josh Brickey, aka, the "synth-master", I am now officially a part of the blogging community. Where to begin? How bout with a movie review...

Last night I watched "Lars and The Real Girl", a movie about a man, and a sex doll. Now I know what you are thinking, but trust me, it's a lot less kinky than it sounds. The story is about an extremely emotionally detached man named, you guessed it, Lars. Now, as if being named Lars wasn't bad enough, he is also suffering from a mental illness. His mental illness is a delusion that a life-size, anatomically correct, doll, named Bianca, is in fact a real person, and.....his girlfriend. Now I don't want to give you so much info that you decide you don't need to see this movie because it is amazing, but this idea does lay the ground work for my random thought of the day.

We live in a world where a new disorder or mental illness is created everyday, and within a week, there is pharmaceutical drug to treat said illness. What do you think would happen if instead of immediately labeling someone crazy and pumping them full of drugs, because they are different from the norm, we put everything we could into finding out why their brain must interpret things differently? People don't just go insane. The brain is very complex and has very interesting ways of dealing with trauma. Who are we to say someone's crazy, crazy is a stupid term, it's dismissive, and misleading, and should only be applied when speaking of Tom Cruise. Just kidding, there is even an explanation for his antics.......... which will be one the first questions I ask God in heaven, "Why did Tom Cruise bounce around like a bunny rabbit on Oprah?"
