The Dark Knight...

Two nights ago, me and 14 of my closest friends decided to go see the new Batman flick. So, I thought I'd give a little spiel about it. !!WARNING, SPOILERS A-PLENTY!!

Honestly, for me, the movie started off a little lame. It's not that it was bad, I just didn't feel it lived up to the hype, but how could it? This movie has been highly anticipated since it's predecessor, and every since Heath Ledgers death, it's all anyone can talk about. Anyways, I didn't really care for the first 10 minutes all that much because they brought back The Scarecrow, (who I thought was an incredible character in the first movie) only to immediately have him beaten like some low-grade thug. After this, the movie began to pick up speed, and by the third or fourth scene with The Joker, it was apparent that this was Heath Ledger's best performance, and he was going to make this movie incredible. I also really liked the way they began to construct the Harvey Dent character, which I thought they were setting up for the third movie, however was disappointed when he became Two-Face almost instantly. The other thing that really bothered me about the Dent story line, was in the scenes leading up to his "conversion," there were about a 100 references to his face being the face of Gotham. Whatever happened to a little cinematic subtlety? All in all, I felt it was a really good movie, a little predictable in some places, but still very entertaining, and visual impressive. I do have one huge issue, but it really has nothing to do with the movie itself, it's with the rating. While the movie was very "clean" in that it had little to no bad language or sexual content, I still feel it should have been rated R. A movie with that much dark subject matter has no place being rated the same as a disney movie. I personally believe most younger kids would have been better off seeing a cheesy teen flick with some gratuitous nudity in it, instead of watching something that is so disturbingly twisted. It seems like we often think if there's no F-bombs, or half-naked women than it's a "clean" movie, but we don't focus on the movie itself, or it's message. Well, I'm sick of typing, bye

By the way...

In my last blog I mentioned that I have discovered an unexpected love for teaching. I did however forget to mention that I now have a whole new respect for any teacher I have ever had(except Ms. Lenois, she hated me!) This respect is not only because I now realize how hard it is to try to focus 30 some odd kids attentions on the task at hand for more a millisecond, nor is it because I underestimated the amount of work that truly goes into to being an effective teacher. It is because writing on a chalkboard may be one of the most difficult things in the world to do, and if, through some divine miracle you happen to actually write out a phrase without the chalk/chalkboard causing an ear piercing squeal, screwing up and having to erase (which only makes a ginormous mess), or the piece of chalk you are writing with disintegrating in your very hand, then your writing is still subject to ridicule by 30 students who apparently majored in calligraphy. It's no secret that my handwriting is about as good as Michael J. Fox's when he is not on his his meds(too soon?) Well I got to go because apparently the entire staff is being treated to a surprise...

Where to begin....

Chalkboard

I've finally started getting to a point where I feel I can now handle all the stresses, blessings, and rigorous demands that being on staff at a summer camp requires, and still maintain the blog. So...This summer has been, and still is, amazing and I wouldn't change it for anything! I have learned so many things, like how much I suck at packing for a stay longer than 2 days, and how some people love to frequently express when they are about to have a bowel movement. I have also learned a lot about myself. For example: Before SeeSalt, I never had a desire to ever teach anything. I was perfectly content with expressing my thoughts and or beliefs through song, and song alone. However, after having to teach for an hour, 3 days a week, on something I am passionate about, it is now one of my favorite things to do. It's amazing to see how God can take my feeble attempts at conveying his thoughts through a series of poorly structured analogies, and crappy one-liners, and use that to truly reach into to some one's mind and cause a change. At some point I will post my PIC(the thing I teach) on here, but not now, because it's 1:30am and I have to be alive in 7 hours. So goodnight, and goodluck.

Walmart may be the anti-Christ...

58221-large

I know that Revelation says the anti-christ will be a person, but I still believe it could be a corporation, and if so, that corporation would be Walmart. Not only does Walmart have horrible customer service(which will be addressed later) but they do an incredible diservice to the community, the enviorment, and even it's own employees. Before I continue, if you haven't seen "Walmart: The High Cost of Low Price" you should look it up online and watch it. It's crazy to see how irresponsible one company can be. Regardless, that is not what this is about. The other night, me and a bunch of my friends went to Wally World around 3am and it was ridiculous! Not only were the "employees" mean mugging us the entire time, but when I tried to buy a movie they asked for my I.D., and being the genius I am, I left my license at the house. So I called for my friend Robbie who's a year younger than me to buy it. Simple, right? Wrong! She refused to let him get it because she was convinced he was buying it for me, and since I can't prove my legal age she refused to let any of the other 4 guys with us(that were of legal age) to buy it. Long story short, Walmart sucks, look it up...

Today I got a brand new...

Apple_Touch-movie

I just got the new 32gb Ipod, and I'm excited. Now I don't have to have my computer out to blog, so hopefully I will start blogging daily. Not to mention I can watch movies during my travels this summer. I got to go watch "The Eye" but just so you know Wal-Mart is officially the worst corporation in the world, more on that later...

Wow...

Wow is the only word I can use to describe these past few weeks. Training camp was intense, and once we actually started camp I almost had a panic attack. Actually I dunno if that's true because I've never had one before, but I'm pretty sure I was on the brink of one. The whole experience was beautifully stressful every step of the way, but God always pulled us together. Whether it was dramas, or music, or dancing, we always "worked like it depends on us, and pray that it depends on God. Anyways, on my week off I'm vacationing back home in "The Sunshine State" but since we(me, j, robbie) just hooked up Jay's internet router I will now be blogging again daily, for at least a week. Bye

T Minus 14 hours....

...until campers arrive. I am so excited, but I'm also extremely anxious. I don't think I have ever learned so much, in so little time. This has been a tremendous growing period, both in spirit, and in creativity. I used to write songs quite often, but for the past 6 months, I just haven't been able to "find the words," Through this week, God has completely beat the crud(I'm practicing not saying crap in front of campers, it's gonna be tough) out of me, and showed me the areas of my life that aren't matching up with His plan for my life. He has also began to truly "dwell" in me, which in turned reignited my passion for expressing myself through song. I gotta go because we are about to do another full run-through, which will probably last till around 1 or 2am and then we have a billion other things to do before we get to sleep. Pray for great things...
