Beach Bum (n. informal)- One who habitually loafs or idles on beaches.
I am a beach bum. I grew up in Florida just outside of Daytona, and I rarely went an entire week without making the 15 minute pilgrimage to good ol' Daytona. Now, for the past 3 years I have lived in Spartanburg, SC which is 4 hours away from the nearest beach. Well, I'm at the beach right now, but it's not the same. The weather isn't even remotely tropical, the sand is far from sugar white, and you can't drive on the beach. However, I am taking a challenge a friend of mine gave me: "Go an entire day without saying anything negative."
Normally I would do nothing but complain about how it's not the same as home, however I am appreciative to have even the slightest reminder of where I grew up. So even though this is not a very big deal, I challenge you to do the same. Be positive in everything, whether it's somethings as trivial as appreciating a beach or whatever is currently dominating you attention.
